Portuguese and Manchester City defender Ruben Dias wins Premier League Player of the season. The 24-years old Central Defender was very influential for City’s winning their third Premier League title in four years.
Dias was named the Premier League Men’s footballer of the year by the Football Writers’ Association in May.
He joined City last September from Benfica, he made 32 league appearances and was involved in 15 clean sheets.
Furthermore, of all the appearances he made for the club over the season they won 23 of the league matches, won the Carabao Cup, and finished as runners-up in the Champions League.
How the Player of the Year winner was decided
The Premier League Player of the Year was decided by votes from the public – votes are cast through EA Sports website.
Also, the 20 Premier League Club captains and a panel of football experts votes are collected as well.
Dias was nominated for the award alongside teammate Kevin de Bruyne and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.
It was a successful season for the 24-year-old defender as he was also named in the Professional Footballers Association’s (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year.
More so, the promising defender is among the nominees for the Professional Footballers Association’s (PFA)n Player of the Year award which will be announced on Sunday.
